Prepare your station

A short equipment checklist.

Windows computer64-bit Windows 10 or 11.
Compatible radio and peersFSQ / FSQ Fast on FM or HF; AX1200 and JG25-FM on compatible FM paths. Match the waveform and settings at both stations. JG25-HF requires compatible builds at both ends.

Choose your connection

Through audio

Use a SignaLink, DigiRig, radio USB audio or another suitable interface. OpenJSQ generates and receives the modem audio.

Arrange transmit keying through VOX or supported serial PTT. Use suitable HF SSB/data settings or FM settings for your chosen waveform.

Through an AX.25 TNC

Connect a supported external KISS TNC over serial or network for AX1200 packet. The TNC handles the radio modem connection.

This route does not require OpenJSQ to exchange radio audio through the computer’s sound device. Dire Wolf is also a supported software TNC option.
